Merry Christmas ya filthy animal...and a happy new year!

Just a quote from my most favorite Christmas movie, Home Alone 2 :) I just wanted to tell all two of you who read my blog that I hope you have a great Christmas and a wonderful new year! This year I am finding joy in the little things...a morning slimey kiss from Corey, a fun husband who keeps me laughing, a midget dog who loves me and a giant puppy who drives me crazy, and good friends who stick around even when I am not so pleasent to be around. Thank you all for a better year than last year. Merry Christmas!

Weindeer!

I must say that I have one of the funniest three year old's in the world!

I was driving home from work the other day. I pick Corey up on the way home. As we were driving home we passed some fields. I saw some deer run across the street in front of me and stop in the field to eat. I pulled over and let Corey look at the deer. Of course he thought they were reindeer. He starts saying "Mommy, look des a weindeer! A weindeer eating he food! Look Momma!" We watched for a few more minutes and started to drive again. A few minutes later I see more deer crossing in front of us, so I pulled over to look. These deer started bounding away from the truck. Corey is exstatic! He started yelling "Look Momma, a weindeer hop like a bunny! He hop like bunny!" He loved it!

Then last weekend we were at the Verizon store. Corey dunked Devin's new phone (3 weeks old!) into a big glass of water, so of course it broke! So we went to the store to get a new one. There was a really tall guy wearing a green ninja turtle beanie. Corey loved it! He said "Look momma, a green disoar! He a green disoar!" Of course being three, nothing that comes out of his mouth is quiet. The guy looked over and laughed at Corey for calling him a green dinosaur. A few minutes later A lady walked in wearing a leopard print coat. And here comes Corey! "Look momma, a tiger! See a tiger momma?!" Then he is so excited to see the "tiger" that he starts running over to the lady and said "Momma, I touch a tiger!" I caught him just in time and had to explain that the "tiger" was the lady's coat. He seemed a little confused because he said "A tiger es he coat?...Oh." I nearly died laughing and so did everyone in the vicinity! I love it!!

I'm Alive!

So I haven't used the crutches at all, but I am getting pretty good at hobbling around. I got the stitches out yesterday and the Dr. drained it and actually got out a lot of fluid, which is great.

Yesterday I took Corey to the doctor because he has had a cold for maybe a week and it hasn't been going away. The doctor said that he has an ear infection and tonsillitis. Poor kid, he starts coughing so hard that it makes him throw up. I feel really bad when he is sick. He gets to spend the day with me today to make sure that he gets some rest and that he gets his antibiotics. Other than the coughing he seems like he is feeling pretty good. He tries to run and play, but I try to keep him reigned in. Funny boy!

Tomorrow...

So today is my last day of work before the surgery tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital by 6:30 in the morning and the surgery is supposed to start at 8:00. I know I have done this once before, so I know what to expect, so I shouldn't be as nervous as I am...but I am freaking out!!! I have had so much stress with work and school and home and everything else that it has all just built up and I feel like I am going crazy! I have homeowrk that I have to do today and I can't concentrate on anythig right now. Last night it was the same thing. I was so jittery that I didn't cook dinner, I buzzed around the house and got stuff done. It took me all of about 10 minutes to do the dishes, which is normally about a 30 minute ordeal. I swept and mopped the floor, I cleaned up Corey's mandarine orange mess all over the table, floors, walls and chairs (little terd!). Corey got a bath and was ready for bed by 7:00. All of this would usually take me a couple of hours, but last night I was done in about 45 minutes. Just to give you an idea of how jittery and nervous I am. I feel like everyday I have to talk myself down or else I'll explode! I keep reminding myself that after tomorrow I will be off of work for a whole month, so that is one huge stressor that I don't need to worry about for at least a month. I am going to focus on getting better so that I don't have to have another surgery on this stupid knee. Sorry, I'm venting. I will keep everyone updated on the progress. Thanks for listening!

Heart Attack!

Last night Corey was sitting at the table eating his dinner. No big deal, he does great eating by himself. I walked into the other room for a minute. When I walked into the kitchen I really didn't pay him a whole lot of attention until I heard this little mischevious laugh. So I turned to check on him. The stinker is standing on the table and holding on to the chandelier and just spinning it in circles! I nearly had a heart atack! I told him to get off of the table and he just laughed as he climed down, he knew he had been caught. The funniest part is that Devin and I have been noticing for about a week that the lights have been crooked and so Devin would straighten them. We were trying to figure out why the lights kept tilting, but now we know!

Better late than never right?

So I had Corey's picture taken in January, but I never got any posted to the blog. So here we go, here are some of my favorites.

Knee Surgery

I will need to have another knee surgery, yipee!! It is scheduled for September 24th, a Friday. I will take at least three weeks off of work so that I can get better. I have to have a doctor's note to return to work part time and then another to return full time. I am really hoping that Devin can take some time off of work with me this time so that I have some company in my misery, they say that misery loves company right? I will need to be awake for this surgery because the doctor needs me to move my knee around so that he can be sure he gets everything out. I would prefer to be out, but at least I won't be able to feel anything (so he says!). But at least it will be feeling better by the end of the year, so that's a great thing. So now that I have given myself the pep talk, I am stoked and ready to go, bring it on!

Introducing Darby Duke

So I had to post some pictures of Darby because he is so cute. Here ya go!

Pneumonia

It has been a lovely couple of weeks! Apparently the bronchitis turned into pneumonia and the ear infection has become a double ear infection. I spent all weekend pretty much dead. I slep until 11:00 yesterday and was still tired. The medication I am on makes me not so tired, so I had a hard time sleeping at night. By the time the morning came I was so exhausted that I just crashed. Anyway, I'm on the mend and doing my best to get better.

More pictures

There were just too many pictures to not put some more!

4th of July Weekend, Puppy, Mud!

For the 4th we went to Devin's grandma's house in Logan. We had a lot of fun! We took Corey to a lake and he chased ducks in the water. We got some fireworks for him and loved that! He ate his first ice cream sandwich and he even shared with dad! We made ice cream and he had it all over him. He splashed and played in Grandma's wading pool, clothes and all, then no clothes and all.

After we got home we went and picked up the puppy, and he is so cute! I though I had a name picked out, but when we got him home it just didn't seem to fit. We are still trying to figure out what to call him. He is snugly, playful, and super cute! And he hasn't had one accident in the whole two days we have had him. We make sure that we are always with him and we take him out on a regular basis.

And now for the pictures...

Bronchitis

I have been sick for a week and apparently it turned into bronchitis. Fun Fun!!! I also have an ear infection. But on the brighter side I am down another 17 pounds!

Another One?

Well, yesterday I had a checkup on my knee. Apparently there is some tissue growing over my patella. It is causing my knee to pop with every step, and it is kinda painful. So the doctor gave me a cortisone shot (which hurt like...you know!) and said he wanted to see me in another three weeks. We will know by then if the shot got rid of the enflamation or if we need to do another surgery. If I need another surgery the doctor will put the I.V. in and give me something to make me loopy, then they will anesthetize my knee. Then they will put all of the mini equipment in and a camera and take a look around. I will be awake for the whole thing because they will need me to move my knee around so they can make sure they get everything out. I just told the doctor that he just needs to make sure that I am in no pain and completely out of it otherwise he may have a small riot on his hands! So we will see how things go!

Ode to Casey

Last Friday Casey was bit by a spider and he died. I am so sad and heartbroken. I got Casey after Leavi died, so when Casey died it was like it all happened all over again. He was such a sweet and fun little doggie and I loved him so much. I miss him like crazy! This is the most recent picture that I have of Casey and it was taken a few months ago. Poor thing was in desperate need of a haircut, but I still think he is as cute as ever! So here is my ode to Casey: Thank you for being such a good friend and comfort to me when I needed you most. I'm sorry if I wasn't the greatest friend to you when you needed me. I love you and you will always be in my heart. Thank you for the fun times!
Because I was so upset after I found Casey Devin spent the better part of the weekend looking online for another Yorkie. He was going to suprise me. Sunday afternoon after Church Devin told me to hurry and change my clothes because he had found another St. Bernard that he was going to get. He had set an appointment to go and pick it up. As much as I love Chuck, I just couldn't bring myself to be very excited because a St. Bernard just isn't even close to Casey. I changed my clothes and we left. A few minutes later we pulled up in front of a house with a 6 foot fence in the back so I just assumed that the dog was back there. Devin said "I know you're not very excited about this dog, so you don't have to go in if you don't want to." I said that I would go in and see the dog because it was going to become a part of our family. So we wlaked into the house and the lady said that "They are in the kitchen." I was thinking that was weird to have a bunch of St. Bernards in the kitchen becasue they are so big. We walked into the kitchen and there on the floor was four little yorkie puppies! I just turned to Devin and hugged him and started bawling. The lady said "Oh, you didn't know... this was a suprise." I was just beside myself with joy and suprise. There was one little male left from the litter that hadn't been spoken for, so I get him. He is the biggest of the litter and so snuggly. I haven't decided what to name him yet, only that it has to be five letters to fit in with the rest of the family.
Oh yeah, and we also have inherited a kitten. Someone left him on our doorstep a couple of weeks ago, and I didn't have the heart to turn him away. Poor Devin is allergic to cats, so he has been such a trooper! Corey is insistent that the cat's name is Black (even though he is a little fluffy gray cat!). We have food and a litter box for him and he has done great with the litter box. There has only been 2 messes, and that was before I got the litter box set up. He is a fun little guy.

Oh Crap!

So we have finished the living room in our basement, but the builder wired it for a suround sound system so that we can put one in if we so choose. Anyway, there are wires poking out of the little holes so that we can wire the speakers to them. The other night Devin, Corey and I were sitting on the couch watching a movie. Corey looked straight up and said "Oh crap, Mama!" I giggled out of hilarity and suprise and said "What did you say?" And Corey says "Oh crap mom!" So I asked him what was oh crap. He pointed up to the roof and said "Des a ho in da woof!" So he was pretty upset thinking that there should not have been a hole in the roof! I just alaughed and though to myself that I would have to remember that so that I could blog it. He is such a funny kid.
The other day I was outside watering the garden. Corey was in his jammies and didn't have shoes on, so he sat on the back steps so that he could still be outside with me. I told him to stay there so that Chuck's chain didn't make him fall, so he said "okay!" I had almost finished watereing and I had my back turned away from Corey. All of a sudden I heard this horrified squeal. I turned to see Corey running from Chuck, who was so excited that he had a little friend to play with, so he was chasing Corey. Corey got to me and climbed up my legs and said "No no Chuck! No get me!" I love that boy!

Jeep, House, Grass, Garden

Well We have been extra busy over the last month since we moved intou the house. We put sod in the front yard, so we have to make sure it gets plenty of water. We actually got the sod for free. There is road constuction in Pocatello, so all of the grass that was there was dug up and put inot a huge pile. We made several trips over there and pieced it together like a puzzle in the front yard. It has been in about 2 weeks and is starting to green up a lot, mostly in patches, but it's better than it was.
We have also been working on the Jeep a lot too. We took the front fenders off and are in the process of taking off the axels so that we can put stronger ones on. After that we are going to put on the 37 inch tires and do a lift. Then we will make fender flares for the front and attach rock crushers on the back and sides. Then we will probably do a new paint job when everything is done. It is turning out to be quite the fun project.
Devin also bought an F350 diesel. It needs a new motor and transmission, but it still runs really strong and pulls just about anything. We are going to put new seats in and replace the lights on the roof. It is a fun project too.
We have also gotten our garden ready to plant. I found vegetable seeds at the dollar store, 6 packets for $1! I was pretty excited about that. I will be planting the seeds in the next day or two and I have high hopes of growing lots of veggies. mmmmm! Thanks Dad for teaching me how to garden when I was a kid!
I think that is most of our lives right now. Corey is doing good and liking his new daycare (despite being kicked in the head his first week!). Devin is doing good with school and work. Yeah, we're just busy busy!

this truck is awesome! also pictured above with the jet

Eric's truck, way cool! 44" tires and a 2" lift, the bottom of the door frame sits about chest level for me, huge and way fun! This thing is a tank and can climb anything!

We ripped the front license plate off when we slid into a rock. This was a fun trip up to Shelley.

Our Wrangler, way fun!! Love it!

This is our first Jeep, a '65 CJ5. We traded a guy for our 4wheeler. 2 months later we found a guy that had the Wrangler that wanted a CJ5, so we traded him Jeeps. He is still convinced that he got the better end of the deal. I guess if he's happy then there's nothing to worry about!

This is my knee after four days. This is the first time without the bandage. Can you say UGLY?!!

What does Daddy say?

This morning while I was taking Corey to school/daycare I was asking him what sound the animals say. He got most of them right so I thought I'd try something different. I asked him "What does Mommy say?" He responded "Ummm..." so I said "Mommy says I love you Corey." He repeated it and was so cute! Then I asked him what Daaddy says. His response... "Poop!"
Funny kid!

Okay!

Well, I have been waiting to post until I could put some pictures on because I have a LOT of pictures to post! But it seems that I never have time to put the pictures on the computer.

My knee is doing a lot better. I can walk somewhat normally now. It will be three weeks tomorrow. I have an appointment today and I will have it drained again. Woop-d-doo! Anyway, I think it will be a good thing when I can acctually use it like normal. I'm not sure if it was worth it just yet because it is still useless and sore and fat, but everyday it gets a little better.

Our house is scheduled to be done in 10 days!! We are getting really excited to have it done. It is coming along really well and it looks great! The paint is done, and the tile and carpet are going in right now. Yay!

We have joined an offroading club too. We traded our 4-wheeler for a Jeep so that we can take the whole family and fit comfortably. We have been out on several trail rides and have LOVED it! We just got the bigger tires in and we are replacing the axels and going to do a spring over and possibly a 2 inch lift. Once we get all of that done it should be albe to go wherever we want it to go. It is our latest fun project.

I will post pictures of all of this as soon as I get a chance to move pictures from my camera to the computer. Hopefully that will happen in the next day or two.

I hope you are all doing good!

Nervous!

Well, tomorrow is the big day! I go in at 7:30 in the morning. We will take Corey to daycare and then head to the hospital. I have decided that I don't want to have a surgery, I just want the end result. Is that dumb? Oh well!

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Surgery & House

I have a date for the surgery. I was hoping to wait until after we move into our house, but the insurance company wants it done ASAP. So I will go in at about 7:00 a.m. on Friday the 19th of March (that's in about 2 weeks!). I am planning on being gone from work for the following week for sure and if I need more time I will take part of the nest week off too. The doctor said it is supposed to be painful and it will bleed a lot inside. I will have to go in and have it lanced and drained. Yippee! But I am glad to have it done. I am hoping it will feel better soon!

Our house is coming along great! It has a roof and walls framed, the builder will be starting on drywall in the next day or two. Devin and I decided that we would like a black roof, medium brown siding with darker brown trim, and black bricks on the bottom half. We saw one house that looked similar and we decided that we really like how the colors coordinate, so that's how we will have ours. It is a lot of fun to see everything come together! We still need to pick out tile and carpet and paint for the inside. We know we don't want white walls, so we may go with a light green or a beige. That will be an easier decision once we get the other things picked out. It is a lot of fun!

Surgery and Meds

So last wednesday's dr appointment went well. The doc said exactly what I thought he would... I will be having surgery on my left knee in the next few months. The doctor will do a scope, so there should be minimal scars, two small ones on my lower knee and one on my upper knee. He will go in and loosen the tendons on the left side and reshape the cartilage on the right side. My kneecap rides up on the bone instead of sitting in the joint. This causes it to move in a J shape when I move it. By releasing the tension on the tendons that will aleviate the pressure on my knee and allow my kneecap to move more toward the joint. I will be out of work for a week to two weeks and it is supposed to be very painful and it will bleed a lot. I am nervous, but I have been struggling with it for so long that I am really glad to have it done.

I had an appointment yesterday and had my thyroid checked. I am on a new perscription to regulate my hormone levels. Hopefully I will be more normal now!

Poor Corey is at home today with tonsilitis. He had a really high fever yesterday, but he didn't act sick. Since I was already at the doctor, we just had him look at Corey too. Apparently Corey has splotchy tonsil. So Corey is on an antibiotic and will no longer be contagious after 24 hours of taking it.

Anyway, this is our exciting life right now! I hope everyone is doing well.

Broken?

Well, apparently I really have issues with Ice! Friday morning on my way to get into the truck to go to work, I stepped on some black ice and I was down for the count! I was right by the hitch of the truck, so I am really lucky that I didn't hit that! However, I did fall on my left wrist. We took Corey to the daycare and then went to urgent care and got x-rays. Nothing showed up, but there is a possibility that a bone on the end of my thumb is broken or fractured. The doctor said that it will show up in x-rays after about 1-2 weeks. I have to wear a brace on it for a week and if it isn't feeling better then I have to go back to see what they can do. Personally I think that it has something going on because there is still a big hard bump that hasn't gone down yet. I guess time will tell.

Also, I have a doctor appointment this Wednesday for my knee with an orthopedic doctor. Hopefully we will find out if or when I will need surgery. And I have an appointment on the 15 of this month for my thyroid. I will have some blood work done to find out what dose of meds I should have and hopefuylly get my hormone levels regulated. My weight has been yo-yo-ing and my moods have been off the charts crazy! I will be laughing one minute and in tears the next. So needless to say that I am a bucket of work!

Anyway, I will keep everyone posted on everything. (sorry for all the typos, I typed this one-handed!)

C'mon say it with me!

Heidi's a klutz!!!

So a week ago on Sunday, I was on my way out of the house and carrying Corey. I slipped on the ice and landed on my knees and caught myself with my left forearm. Corey didn't get hurt at all, thankfully!! I on the other hand was REALLY bruised. I had a lump about an inch off of my arm and some nice black and purple bruises on both legs.

Last Friday after I took Corey into the daycare I slipped on the ice as I was going back to the truck. Now I am not only a klutz, but an idiot too! When I stepped outside of the daycare, I glanced to make sure that there was no ice. I didn't see any ice, so I jogged to the truck. My very last step on the sidewalk, low and behold, there was some ice! Needless to say that my feet were off of the ground and I land very hard on my right hip and then my head bounced off of my shoulder. But it could have been much worse... At least my head didn't hit the sidewalk.

Then on Saturday morning I was walking down the stairs at my apartment, and guess who can't handle the stairs? Me!!! I slipped off of the edge of one step and slid down about five steps on my already bruised tush!

And then, yesterday we went sledding with Devin's brother. Stephen brought his snowmobile, so at the very end we tied the sled to the snowmobile and went for one last ride. He is the craziest driver ever!!! Apparently it is his goal to flip the sled and it was accomplished! I was on the sled with Lindsay, Stephen's wife. When we crashed her feet landed on my upper legs and left some nice bruises there too!

So c'mon say it with me, Heidi is a klutz!!!

But I have good news too! Our house should be done by April 15! I am really excited! We have the lot picked out and we signed the contract today. We are glad to have the stress of finding a lot over with, now we just have pick out the colors of paint, carpet, cabinets, and tile and wait for the house to be done. Yay!

Also, I will post pictures of Christmas and new pictures of Corey when I have time. I am still figuring out my new camera.

I hope you are all doing well!
